Artrosis de rodilla: factores modificables y no modificables

Resumen

La artrosis de rodilla es una patología degenerativa del cartílago articular, con posterior deterioro de las demás estructuras sinovio-articulares, que afecta aproximadamente al 9,6% de hombres y al 18% de mujeres mayores de 60 años. Su verdadera etiología no es del todo clara. Por este motivo, se expuso los factores de riesgo asociados a su desarrollo, siendo estos del tipo modificable o no modificable. Mediante búsqueda bibliográfica se determinó que dentro de los factores modificables influyentes se encuentran la obesidad y el trabajo mecánico, principalmente. En cambio, dentro de los factores no modificables se encontró diversidad de genes de susceptibilidad ligados a la artrosis de rodilla, siendo los más estudiados: el factor de crecimiento y diferenciación 5 (GDF5), el factor de crecimiento transformante beta (TGF-β) y el dominio doble del factor A de Von Willebrand (DVWA); mientras que en los factores embriológicos, diversos estudios aún no han confirmado una relación directa entre un inadecuado desarrollo de la articulación con la manifestación de artrosis de rodilla. Se concluyó que la obesidad, el trabajo mecánico, el GDF5, el TGF-β y el DVWA, son los factores más influyentes en la presentación de la artrosis de rodilla.
