FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
This section provides answers to the most common questions from authors, reviewers and readers about the operation of the journal.
1. About the journal
1.1 What is the publication frequency of the journal?
JAMM has a semiannual publication frequency. Two issues are published per year: First semester: January to June, and Second semester: July to December.
1.2 What types of papers does JAMM publish?
The journal receives exclusively research articles and review articles, in accordance with the guidelines established in the Instructions for Authors. These manuscripts must be related to the thematic areas covered by the journal, such as:
- Geostatistics
- Mine safety
- Mining and environment
- Machine learning and deep learning applied to mining
- Geomechanics
- Mine planning
- Tunnelling
Each type of article has specific requirements and suggested length described in the Instructions for Authors.
1.3 Does the journal charge publication fees (APC)?
No. JAMM does not charge any submission, processing or publication fees. The journal is open access with no APC.
1.4 What is the journal’s open access policy?
All articles are published in open access and can be read, downloaded and cited freely, in accordance with the Creative Commons licence adopted by the journal (CC BY 4.0).
2. For authors
2.1 How can I submit a paper to the journal?
Submissions are made exclusively through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, using the “Submit an Article” button. Authors must register as users with the “author” role and follow the steps of the submission wizard.
2.2 In which language can I submit my manuscript?
The journal accepts contributions written in English.
2.3 Which style and citation guidelines does the journal use?
Manuscripts must follow the Instructions for Authors of the journal, where the format for text, tables and figures is specified, as well as the citation and reference style to be used.
2.4 Are submissions checked with plagiarism-detection software?
Yes. All manuscripts undergo an originality check using plagiarism-detection tools before being sent out for peer review.
3. Editorial process
3.1 What type of peer review does the journal use?
JAMM uses a peer review system, generally in a double-blind mode, in which neither authors nor reviewers know each other’s identities.
3.2 What is the average review time?
The time may vary depending on the availability of reviewers, but the journal aims to provide a first editorial decision within approximately 2-3 weeks.
4. Technical aspects of the system
4.1 What should I do if I have problems registering or submitting a paper?
If the system shows access errors, file-upload problems or form validation issues, the author may contact the editorial team via the journal’s institutional e-mail address (jamm@unitru.edu.pe) and attach the necessary information to complete the submission.
4.2 How can I recover my password?
On the OJS login page, you must use the “Forgot your password?” option. The system will send a recovery link to the e-mail address associated with your account.
