La disponibilidad hídrica futura en los ecosistemas de zonas áridas en el Sur de Perú y Norte de Chile

Resumen

Las regiones áridas como la cabecera del Desierto de Atacama sur de Perú y norte de Chile, son las áreas más sensibles al cambio climático. Se busca establecer la disponibilidad hídrica futura en los ecosistemas de esta región, en función del cambio climático y alteraciones geológicas. Metodológicamente se recurre a la revisión exhaustiva de reportes de investigación en la región de estudio. El desierto de Atacama es considerado una de las regiones más áridas del mundo. El cambio climático supera los aspectos económicos, comerciales y las decisiones políticas, presenta incidencia en muchos aspectos de las actividades humanas y es un factor determinante en las actividades económicas, asignándole un valor económico. Las precipitaciones pluviales en esta región han evolucionado favorablemente, se tienen registros de acumulaciones de agua en forma de pequeñas lagunas, lo que representa un cambio significativo en la disponibilidad hídrica de esta árida región. A futuro, según la tendencia de este comportamiento, es de esperar que la disponibilidad hídrica sea favorable, es probable que se activen zonas de lomas con pastizales y arbustos, evidencias que normalmente se presentan en la región sur de Perú, en algunos años húmedos, lo proporciona condiciones favorables para la actividad ganadera en la región.
