Economía circular y sostenibilidad tecnológica: Estudio de caso del sistema milpa en México

Abstract

Actualmente, los sistemas de producción agrícola enfrentan problemas globales como la adaptación al cambio climático y la pérdida de hábitat. El enfoque de agricultura intensiva, producto de la economía lineal, ha generado que los sistemas tradicionales se consideren improductivos u obsoletos. A pesar de esto, el sistema de milpa sigue siendo esencial para la seguridad alimentaria y base de la economía local; a lo largo de su historia se han incorporado estrategias e innovaciones con el fin de optimizar los recursos disponibles, donde los conocimientos tradicionales han sido la base de la resiliencia de este sistema; sin embargo, se siguen incorporando conocimientos, aunque a un ritmo más lento. Por tal motivo, se ha realizado una revisión sistemática de las principales estrategias que utilizan los actores e instituciones relacionadas con el sistema de milpa en México, con el objetivo de presentar una visión armónica bajo el marco de los aportes de la sustentabilidad y la economía circular, los resultados permiten conceptualizar el sistema milpa como una entidad adaptable, con potencial de mejoramiento y no estática, así como un espacio agroecológico donde converge el manejo adecuado de productos y residuos.
