He has been a wheat breeder and responsible for the Phytopathology Program of the Nordic-Baltic Program of the Swedish-German company Svalöf Weibull for several years. He has been Head of the Department of Agriculture and Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of the Nordic Genes Bank in Sweden. It has publications in Genome, Theoretical Applied Genetics, Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, Hereditas, Plant Systematic Evolution, LWT - Food Science and Technology, Food Research International, Journal of Food Engineering, Food Science and Technology International, among other scientific journals. He is currently Professor of Genetics, Molecular Biology, Genetic Improvement and Biotechnology, Department of Aquaculture and Agri-Food Resources, University of Lagos and is Director of a Program for Conservation, Management and Sustainable Use of Plant Genetic Resources (FITOGEN) college. In addition, he is a guest professor in postgraduate programs (magister and doctoral programs) in Chile, Nicaragua and Sweden.
