El extracto de Caesalpinia spinosa inhibe la infección in vivo de Flavobacterium columnare en tilapia

Abstract

En la presente investigación se realizó el ensayo in vivo del extracto de C. spinosa como un controlador de F. columnare en individuos de tilapia. Para lo cual, se obtuvo el extracto de frutos secos de C. spinosa y se mezcló con el agua de cultivo para peces a la concentración final de 0.14 mg/ml en acuarios de 280 l. En la primera etapa, los peces de tilapia infectados artificialmente con F. columnare manifestaron los síntomas de la enfermedad. En la segunda etapa, los peces enfermos fueron tratados con el extracto de C. spinosa disuelto en el agua de cultivo y se mantuvieron hasta su recuperación. En el grupo de individuos enfermos que no recibieron C. spinosa, el porcentaje de sobrevivencia fue 53,33. Los peces criados con y sin C. spinosa no mostraron diferencias en el porcentaje de sobrevivencia entre ellos. Se demostró la actividad antibacteriana in vivo de C. spinosa y puede usarse como una alternativa efectiva para el tratamiento de infecciones de otras bacterias y en otras especies acuícolas, a bajo costo y amigable con el medio ambiente.
