Professional Profile and Experience

Martín J. Valenzuela-Díaz is a Civil Mining Engineer (B.Sc., M.Sc., University of Chile) and PhD candidate in Science and Technology (Industrial & Environmental) at the University of Huelva, where he works as a pre-doctoral researcher. His work focuses on sustainable mining, tailings and water hydrogeochemistry, and life cycle assessment of mining wastes.

He is currently developing projects on cemented paste backfill and site-specific leaching balances using PHREEQC and LCI-based approaches. He has held research positions at the Advanced Mining Technology Center (AMTC) and SMI-ICE Chile, and actively collaborates in the European project Tailing23Green.

His research interests include life cycle assessment in mining, sustainability, water and tailings geochemistry, hydrochemical modeling, LIBS, acid drainage migration, water quality in mining areas, and recovery of valuable elements from tailings.
