He was Technical Director at HADA Soap & Cosmetics and head of the Process Engineering Department of Buencafé Coffee Freeze-Drying Colombian companies.
Professor Titular (Full-Time Professor) and Director of the Institute of Biotechnology and Agroindustry of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Branch Manizales. His research interests include food processing, food product design, freeze-drying, enzyme immobilization and green composites.
He authored more than 90 published works including more than 40 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals, plus several reviews, book chapters and editorships. He is a reviewer of several journals such as Industrial Crops and Products, Carbohydrate Polymers, Process Biochemistry, Food and Bioprocess Technology, Journal of Molecular Catalysis, Polymer Composites, Journal of Food Engineering and Process Biochemistry.
Recently, he has been visiting Professor at UNESP, UENF (Brazil) and U. Minho (Portugal). He awarded the Academic Merit Medal of the Colombian Society of Chemical Engineering (2007) and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Branch Manizales (2009).
