Actividad antifúngica de extractos y compuestos bioactivos de la familia Fabaceae sobre dermatofitos: una revisión

Resumen

Las dermatofitosis son micosis superficiales de alta prevalencia cuya creciente resistencia a antifúngicos convencionales ha incentivado la exploración de alternativas terapéuticas basadas en productos naturales. Esta revisión sintetiza la evidencia publicada entre 2019 y 2025 sobre la actividad antifúngica de extractos y compuestos bioactivos de la familia Fabaceae frente a dermatofitos clínicamente relevantes. Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática en bases de datos internacionales, considerando exclusivamente artículos de acceso abierto en inglés o español. Se incluyeron veinte estudios, de los cuales diez abordaron especies de Fabaceae, destacando Prosopis farcta, Daniellia oliveri, Cassia spp., Lupinus spp. y Calpurnia aurea, con inhibición significativa incluso frente a cepas resistentes a terbinafina. Esta actividad se atribuyó principalmente a alcaloides quinolizidínicos, flavonoides y antraquinonas. Los estudios comparativos evidenciaron sinergias con antifúngicos convencionales y el desarrollo de formulaciones innovadoras. En conjunto, los resultados posicionan a Fabaceae como una fuente promisoria de agentes antifúngicos, aunque se requieren estudios traslacionales y ensayos clínicos para validar su potencial terapéutico.
