Abstract

As of 2018, in the groundwater of the populated centers of the north coast of Peru, arsenic concentrations were determined above the maximum limits allowed by current Peruvian regulations. Considering that this water is used for human and cattle consumption, the research objective was to determine if the fresh milk produced presents concentrations of arsenic. 21 samples from 8 different populated centers were analyzed, determining the physicochemical parameters by ultrasound and the presence of arsenic by optical emission spectrophotometry (EPA Method 200.7). In 15 samples, physicochemical parameters were found in accordance with the Peruvian Technical Standard NTP 202.001 and in 6 samples arsenic concentrations were found in a range of 0,003 to 0,023 ppm, samples from the towns of Cruz del Médano, Arbolsol, Lagunas, La Quemazón, Casa Blanca y Lagartera in the district of Mórrope, department of Lambayeque.
