Fuente y nivel de suplementación con selenio en gallina de postura comercial

Se evaluó el efecto de la fuente y nivel de suplementación con selenio sobre su concentración y vida de anaquel de huevos de gallinas de postura comercial. Se utilizaron 672 gallinas de 38 semanas de edad, distribuidas en un diseño experimental completamente al azar en cuatro tratamientos: T0 (dieta + 0,4 mg Se.kg-1 con selenito de sodio), T1 (dieta + 0,2 mg Se.kg-1 con ácido 2-hidroxi 4-metilselenobutanoico), T2 (dieta + 0,3 mg Se.kg-1 con levadura enriquecida con selenio) y T3 (dieta + 0,3 mg Se.kg-1 con ácido 2-hidroxi 4-metilselenobutanoico). Diferencias significativas (p > 0,05) entre tratamientos se obtuvieron para peso de huevo, consumo de alimento, conversión alimenticia, vida de anaquel a temperatura de 24 °C y 4 °C, peroxidación lipídica y concentración de selenio en el huevo a 14 y 56 días. Se concluye que la fuente de selenio orgánico ácido 2-hidroxi 4-metilselenobutanoico contribuyó a reducir la oxidación lipídica, mantenimiento de la calidad y al aumento de la concentración del mineral en el huevo. Además, eficiencia económica de S/ 0,013 y 0,024 soles se obtuvo para la fuente de selenio orgánico ácido 2-hidroxi 4-metilselenobutanoico en los tratamientos T1 y T3 en relación al testigo respectivamente.
