Anxiety levels and eating habits in university students from the Trujillo district

Abstract

Objetive: To determine the association between anxiety levels and eating habits among university students in Trujillo, Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional, correlational study was conducted in 209 students aged 18–25 years. Anxiety was assessed using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and eating habits were evaluated through a validated questionnaire adapted for university populations. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test. Results: A total of 65.8% of students presented low anxiety levels, and 78.4% reported adequate eating habits. No significant association was found between anxiety levels and eating habits (χ² = 0.040; p = 0.980). Conclusion: Anxiety levels were not significantly related to eating habits among university students in Trujillo.
