ABSTRACT

The effect of various concentrations of metribuzin on the growth of Trichoderma harzianum was determined under laboratory conditions. The work was conducted with five concentrations of metribuzin: 600, 660, 720, 780 and 840 ppm, aside from the 0 ppm control. To evaluate the effect of the herbicide on growth, metribuzin was incorporated into Sabouraud Agar, which was placed in petri plates, in order to obtain the above-mentioned concentrations; a portion of T. harzianum mycelium was seeded by direct transfer and was incubated at 25ºC for a period of 4 days. The collection of data was carried out by measuring every six hours the growth radii (mm) obtained in each of the tests, the smallest average growth value of mycelium was 10.94 mm., which corresponds to the concentration of 840 ppm. The growth curves, growth rates and growth percentages corresponding to each of the tests were obtained with these data. Statistically, it was determined that there does not exist a significant difference among the values for the radii corresponding to each of the five problem tests (except the control one). Finally, the conclusion is that, under these laboratory conditions, this biological controller is susceptible to metribuzin.

Key words: Biological controller, herbicide, Trichoderma harzianum, metribuzin.
ER -
